History:
While newly formed in 2007, Russell Marine personnel have a diverse and extensive marine background. In addition to experienced personnel, we own a complete spread of hydrographic survey equipment, scientific equipment and marine plant to allow instant and cost effective response to your needs. A summary of Michael Russell, P.E., the company’s principal engineer follows.

1986 – 1993 Work for various marine construction companies such as Canonie, M&M/Russell, etc. during breaks from school. Projects included large cofferdams, steel sheeting storm protection walls and mooring dolphins. Attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a BS in Maritime Systems Engineering. This program combines Coastal and Ocean Engineering. While there, also participated in the Merchant Marine Acadamy/Navy ROTC for 3 years. While in this program, worked extensively with large ship machinery.
1993 – 2003 Work for Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company, Oak Brook Il. Work on extensive dredging projects throughout the US and Caribbean. Worked on over 80 separate projects that involved all types of dredges and applications along with intensive hydrographic surveying. Clients included USACOE, State and Local governments, Port Authorities and Private Clients across the U.S. and Caribbean. Progress from field engineer to Project Engineer and finally to Project Manager. Project types included: Contaminated remediation, mechanical maintenance dredging, hydraulic maintenance dredging, hydraulic beach renourishment, mechanical new work, hydraulic new work, pipeline trenching, underwater drilling and blasting, rock revetments and groins, structure demolition, etc.
2003 – 2007 Work for Collins Engineers, Inc., Holland MI. Perform numerous structural inspections and underwater dive inspections across the U.S, Ireland and Azores as the lead professional engineer. Work as consulting engineer on numerous contaminated sediment remediation projects. Install automated dredge positioning systems on numerous excavators. Design multiple dredge projects and structural repairs for clients such as the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and various state DOT’s.
2007 – to Present Start Russell Marine Engineering & Design, Inc. Strive to provide specialty marine services to various clients throughout the Midwest and U.S. coastal areas. Purchase and maintain a complete spread of marine equipment tailored to clients needs. Projects involve engineering and hydrographic surveying for marina construction, bulkhead construction, maintenance dredging, environmental remediation, side scan sonar imagery, sub bottom profiling, salvage, providing complete plans and specifications, etc. Design of dock structures and bulkheads. I look forward to building relationships with new clients.
