Russell Marine Engineering and Design has the capability to meet and exceed your Marine engineering and hydrographic survey requirements.  While we are located in Michigan, we service the entire Midwest/Great Lakes region as well at the continental U.S.  Our specialty is marine structures, dredging projects and coastal processes.  Our engineering and hydrographic licensed professionals have extensive experience with numerous types of marine related projects.  Examples include hydrographic surveying, marina design, dredging/pipeline components, commercial fendering design, beach renourishment, all types of dredging projects, environmental remediation, etc. 

A particular specialty is modern precision hydrographic survey techniques, equipment and applications.  Equipment available includes high and low frequency (as well as dual frequency) single trace precision fathometers, multi-beam fathometers, side scan sonar, sub bottom profiling, real time positioning (Differential and RTK GPS, Robotic Range-Azimuth), specialized survey boats for both open water and shallow conditions, and data acquisition software.  Quality results are assured by incorporating the right equipment and techniques for the specific project, whether it be a structure design, environmental remediation or dredging project.  Data obtained is interpreted and applied to the project in a manner yielding repeatable and reliable results. 

Project environments have included the open ocean to swift river to shallow inland lakes.  Automated recording has been performed in water depths ranging from over 1000 feet to less than two feet.  For specialized projects such as marshes and other shallow or obstructed environments, special methods including airboats, canoes and other equipment are developed. Typical clients range from private owner/managers to construction and dredging companies to municipal and federal governmental groups. A particular specialty is working with projects involving hazardous materials/remediation.  Our personnel are USCG Licensed captains and HAZWOPER certified.

We also specialize in creating project specific real time tracking and data display applications for excavators, dredges, tugs and other types of marine equipment.  We have performed multiple installations and are capable of sourcing, installing, calibrating and training for groups with little or no previous exposure to this type of equipment.  Specialize in Hypack and Dredgepack software routines
